Advancing expert care, close to home

Many patients arrive at the emergency department with an overwhelming sense that something is wrong, but the cause remains a mystery—until interventional radiology steps in.

From stroke and trauma to cancer, this advanced imaging allows physicians to identify the source of medical challenges, navigate the best path forward, and intervene to alleviate suffering—often when mere minutes matter the most.

Interventional radiology now serves as a guiding light for patients at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. But as patient volumes continue to rise across the region, the very program saving lives is being stretched to its limits.

More than 600 patients benefited from the life-changing impacts of interventional radiology in 2025, including those affected by stroke, cancer, and traumatic injury. But as patient volumes rise across the region, our program must expand to best serve our community.

Your gift to support the creation of a dedicated new interventional radiology suite will allow the team to increase capacity, schedule urgent cases quickly, and procure advanced technology to help save lives.

Doubling capacity to increase impact

Our team has already proven what is possible with our current resources. A dedicated interventional radiology suite will allow us to treat more patients daily, reduce wait times, and keep care local for those who need it most.
