We provide a full range of rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Our offerings include: balance enhancement, gait training, hand therapy, joint pain and orthopedic injury care, neck and back pain treatment, fall prevention programs, strength and flexibility training, and rehabilitation for a variety of orthopedic, neurologic, and mobility conditions.

  • Where is the clinic located and how can I contact you?

The clinic is at 4865 MacArthur Boulevard NW, in Washington, DC 20007, on the grounds of The Fitzgerald Senior Living Community. Use the online request and appointment option or call 202-864-0035. Parking note: Complimentary valet parking is available for patients.

  • What should I expect on my first visit?

On the first visit, the therapist will review your medical history or injury, assess mobility, strength, balance, and functional limitations. Based on that evaluation, a personalized rehabilitation plan will be developed. Treatment may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, gait or balance training, post-surgical rehabilitation, joint or limb therapy, and condition-specific interventions depending on your needs.

  • How many sessions will I need and how long might each session last?

The number of sessions and length depend on your specific condition, goals, and progress. Some patients complete therapy in fewer visits; others—especially those recovering from surgery or returning to sport—may need more frequent and/or longer sessions. We will monitor your progress and adjust your plan accordingly.

  • What types of patients and conditions do you treat?

The clinic treats a wide spectrum of conditions — sports-related injuries, joint and orthopedic issues, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain, balance or vestibular disorders, arthritis, foot/ankle/ knee problems, repetitive-motion disorders, and more. Whether you are recovering from surgery or injury, managing chronic conditions, or seeking mobility improvement — our team tailors care to your individual goals.

  • Do you accept insurance and how do I check coverage?

Yes — MedStar Physical Therapy at Palisades generally accepts most major health insurance plans, including Carefirst BCBS, Johns Hopkins Healthcare, Medicaid, United Healthcare, and Worker’s Compensation. We recommend calling your plan ahead to confirm that your service is covered before scheduling.

  • How should I prepare for my physical therapy appointment?

Eat a balanced meal 1-2 hours prior to therapy. Drink about 2.5 cups of water prior to therapy. Take any prescribed pain medications at least 1 hour prior to therapy. Dress in T-shirts, athletic tops, sweatpants, shorts, yoga pants, or athletic leggings. Wear athletic/walking shoes and avoid open toed sandals, flip-flops, and high heels. Ensure proper access to the treatment area.
