Mike Hmara PT, DPT
With 30 years of experience in physical therapy, Michael brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, athletic experience, and a genuine passion for helping people move and live better. He began his career as a physical therapy technician in 1996 and became a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2000, a role he held for 16 years. In 2016, he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, continuing his commitment to lifelong learning and exceptional patient care.
Michael especially enjoys the challenge of treating complex cases. He approaches each patient like a puzzle, combining his clinical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and creativity to develop individualized treatment strategies. His favorite areas to work with are the shoulders and feet, but his ultimate goal with every patient is the same: helping them return to the activities, hobbies, and sports they enjoy as quickly and safely as possible.
Movement and fitness have always been an important part of Michael’s life. He holds a black belt in Hap Ki Do and a CrossFit Level 1 certification, and he has a long history with running. He continues to practice what he preaches, incorporating Olympic lifting into his daily morning routine.
Michael believes physical therapy should be about more than simply reducing pain. It’s about restoring confidence, building strength, improving movement, and giving people the tools they need to get back to doing the things that make them happiest. For him, there’s nothing more rewarding than solving a challenging clinical puzzle and seeing a patient return to the life they love.
