We are proud to offer elite sports physical therapy at Coppermine CopperPlex, an exciting new athletic venue in Harford County. We work with athletes of all ages and skill levels, from weekend warriors to the pros. We are conveniently located just off I-95 and parking is free.

  • James Fischer, PT, MPT, Clinic Director

    James attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he received his master's degree in physical therapy. James' rehabilitation specialties include:

  • Anthony Huling, PT, DPT

    Anthony received his B.S. in Kinesiological Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then obtained his A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and worked for MedStar Health Physical Therapy from 2016 to 2021. Anthony went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from South College in June 2023. Anthony is also an ICE Certified Specialist: Fitness Athlete, and a CrossFit L1 Trainer and enjoys applying the CrossFit ethos and methodology to his treatments.

    At our Edgewood clinic, we offer elite sports therapy and orthopedic-focused physical therapy for athletes age 12 and up and of all skill levels — from weekend warriors to competitive players. Services include ACL injury-prevention programs, ACL return-to-play testing, adolescent sports injuries rehab, concussion management, running injury care, knee/foot/ankle therapy, and therapy for overhead throwing injuries.

  • How do I find out if my insurance covers physical therapy?

    To find out if your insurance covers physical therapy, contact your insurance provider directly or check the list of accepted plans. Edgewood accepts most major health insurance plans. It’s advisable to check with your provider to confirm coverage.

  • Where is MedStar Health Physical Therapy at Edgewood located?

    MedStar Health Physical Therapy is located at 2007 Cedar Drive in Edgewood, Maryland, at the Coppermine CopperPlex, conveniently situated just off I-95. We are located in the rear of the building.

  • Do I need a physician’s referral before starting physical therapy?

    In many cases, patients may start outpatient physical therapy without a traditional physician referral (this is called, “direct access”), though your insurance or specific services may require one. We recommend calling ahead to verify with your insurance.

  • How should I prepare for my physical therapy appointment?

    Eat a balanced meal 1-2 hours prior to therapy. Drink about 2.5 cups of water prior to therapy. Take any prescribed pain medications at least 1 hour prior to therapy. Dress in T-shirts, athletic tops, sweatpants, shorts, yoga pants, or athletic leggings. Wear athletic/walking shoes and avoid open toed sandals, flip-flops, and high heels. Ensure proper access to the treatment area.
