Spiritual and Pastoral Care
Who we are
Spiritual care for our patients, families, and staff focus on the whole person offering prayer, conversation, and compassion to those in need. Our hospital chaplain is available 24 hours a day, especially during those times of anxiety, pain, and sorrow. We welcome and honor all faith traditions and can arrange personal visits, sacraments and services according to the individual faith traditions.
Services
The hospital chaplain can be contacted through the nursing staff or by calling the Spiritual Care office at 410-554-2708. Prayer shawls, rosaries, and bibles are also available upon request.
Faith traditions and culture
- Chapel: The Chapel is located just off the main lobby of the hospital building and security will provide you access. It is open to all for prayer and private meditation.
- Kosher Hospitality Room: Bikur Cholim, a Jewish organization, provides food and prayer items in our Kosher Hospitality Room on the first floor of the 33rd Street Building (across from the Zen Garden). Please ask the nursing staff or call the hospital chaplain for the code to enter room.
- Zen Garden: The Zen Garden is located at the entrance of the 33rd Street Building providing space for mediation, relaxation, and tranquility. This area is designed to lower stress and cultivate mindfulness while promoting one’s wellbeing. Muso Soseki, a Zen Buddhist monk said: “When a garden is used as a place to pause for thought, that is when the Zen garden comes to life.”
