Christina (Tina) Stanger, MA, CRA, the Assistant Vice President of Research Administration and the Institutional Official (IO) for animal research at MedStar Health Research Institute. She provides leadership, direction, and operational oversight to the Office of Contract and Grant Management and the IACUC. She also has oversight of emergency preparedness and facilities administration, along with administrative oversight of MHRI’s intramural funding, SPIRIT Award, and professional development programs. Tina serves as the liaison to external public and private sponsored program funding agencies and serves as an officer of MHRI with delegated authority to execute agreements on behalf of MHRI. She represents MHRI at both the state and national level by serving as a spokesperson and advocate for the research mission.
Tina has over 30 years of experience in research administration experience working in pre-award, post-award, and departments regarding federal, foundation and commercial funding. Prior to joining MedStar Health Research Institute, Tina served as the director of sponsored programs at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and held positions in accounting and research departments at John Hopkins University. Tina received her Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, Master of Science in applied sociology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a master’s certificate in government contracting from George Washington University. She is a certified research administrator.
