Mariam Hammad, MD

Born in Egypt and raised in Northern Virginia, Mariam is thrilled to be back in the DMV after nearly a decade away. She earned her degree in Neuroscience from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA, before heading to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. During medical school, she developed a strong interest in global health, with a focus on promoting ethical and equitable collaboration across healthcare systems. She’s currently exploring potential careers in critical care, cardiology, and hospital medicine, but like many med-peds docs, she enjoys many aspects of medicine and is excited to keep an open mind throughout residency.

Outside of medicine, Mariam loves rock climbing, hiking local trails, getting lost in a good book, and finding the best cup of coffee in town. She’s excited to rediscover her hometown with fresh eyes and make the most of her time at Georgetown.
