Each year, the MedStar Georgetown Psychiatry Residency Training Program accepts applications for nine PGY-1 positions. All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Interviews are by invitation only and are a required component of the application process. All interviews will be virtual. The interview is designed to provide applicants with information regarding different aspects of our program and to "meet" some of our residents and faculty.
The following documents are required in order to have your application reviewed:
- ERAS common application form
- Personal Statement /Motivation for Psychiatry
- Dean's Letter
- Medical School Transcript
- USMLE Step 1 and/or COMPLEX Level 1 Transcript
- USMLE Step II CK and CS when available
- Three (3) letters of recommendation including 2 psychiatry letters and one primary care
How we use signaling and geographic preferencing:
- We utilize a holistic approach when interviewing residency applications. As part of this process, we pay particular attention to applicants who demonstrate interest in our program through the ERAS signaling system and geographic preferences.
- While signaling is not a guarantee of an interview, applicants who use a signal to indicate interest in our program are more likely to be considered for interview offers.
- Geographic preferences are also considered during our review, but it is not required in order to receive an interview.
VISA Policy: J1Visas are sponsored through Georgetown University Hospital. We currently do not have the ability to sponsor H1B Visas.
