About me
Dr. Alimi is a board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeon who specializes in bariatric, foregut, and abdominal surgery. She sees patients at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Her areas of special expertise include minimally invasive gastric sleeve and gastric bypass, minimally invasive abdominal wall surgery, minimally invasive Nissen and Toupet fundoplication to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, minimally invasive LINX device treatment for reflux management, robotic ventral hernia repair, and robotic inguinal hernia repair.
She educates each patient about their condition and treatment options to ensure they’re equipped to make an informed decision and be active partners in their care.
Dr. Alimi is an active researcher who focuses on access and disparities in bariatric surgery and outcomes in abdominal wall surgery. She has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including The American Journal of Surgery, Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, and Annals of Surgery. She has also written book chapters, been an invited lecturer, and presented at national conferences.
In addition to her board certified in general surgery, Dr. Alimi holds a certification from the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and cares for patients at a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Hospital.
