Dr. Thomas Phillip Cestare is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at MedStar Health. He provides compassionate and comprehensive care to patients suffering from chronic pain, utilizing a multimodal, multidisciplinary, and individualized approach. Practicing at MedStar Health’s Brandywine and Mitchellville locations in Maryland, Dr. Cestare is dedicated to improving his patients’ quality of life by offering advanced pain management solutions tailored to their unique needs.
Dr. Cestare earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in anesthesiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Finally, he pursued a fellowship in pain management at Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he gained specialized expertise in interventional pain medicine techniques.
Dr. Cestare treats a wide range of issues, including neuropathic pain, spinal pain, and musculoskeletal disorders. He is highly skilled in interventional procedures such as epidural steroid injections, facet and genicular radiofrequency ablation, and sympathetic blocks. Additionally, he offers innovative neuromodulation treatments, including spinal cord stimulator trials and peripheral nerve stimulator implants.
His philosophy of care is rooted in a holistic and patient-centered approach, ensuring that each individual receives the best possible treatment plan to help them regain function and comfort in their daily lives.
