About me
Nicole Chaumont, MD, FACS, is a Colon and Rectal Surgeon at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, and MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus. Clinically, she is focused on the overall surgical care of patients with colon and rectal issues but is specifically interested in minimally invasive approaches in the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and colon and rectal cancers. Her use of laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques benefit the patient during and post-surgery.
Dr. Chaumont is a rising leader in surgical quality improvement and patient safety. She joins the MedStar Health System in their efforts in this area as the Regional Vice Chair of Quality, Safety, and Outcomes.
Dr. Chaumont earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University before obtaining her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She then completed a surgical residency in General Surgery, followed by a year of specialty training in colon and rectal surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
"Having to give up control to someone you barely know, to overcome a disease you hardly understand, can be devastating...I am thankful that as a surgeon, I have the opportunity to offer support, understanding, guidance, and, in the best of cases, a cure.” - Dr. Nicole Chaumont
