About me

Dr. Joseph Roswarski is fellowship-trained, board-certified medical hematologist oncologist affiliated with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.  His medical career includes clinical care and research in hematologic malignancies, particularly lymphoma and multiple myeloma, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and through volunteer service at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  He obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine.

A decorated military veteran, Dr. Roswarski has received numerous awards during his time of military service as a medical officer.  Chief among these is the Bronze Star Medal – awarded for exceptionally meritorious service as the 201st Corps senior medical advisor. Additionally, he received the Meritorious Service Medal for his clinical care and leadership while at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.

Dr. Roswarski specializes in the treatment of lymphoma, leukemia, CLL, and myelodysplastic syndrome, at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.  The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Washington, D.C. region. 

Dr. Roswarski’s philosophy of care is to first and foremost develop a strong rapport with his patients, focusing on empathy and understanding.  He is passionate about making sure that patients and their families are able to understand their diseases and treatment options, in terms that are easily digestible, so that decisions can be made collaboratively.  Finally, Dr. Roswarski is proud to be a part of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, which will allow patients access to the cutting edge in cancer care and clinical trial opportunities.

    Dr. Roswarski was remarkably prepared. He had thoroughly reviewed my rather complex recent medical history and done additional research to try and locate similar cases. He was clear in explaining my treatment options and answered all of our numerous questions. I never had a sense that he felt rushed in any way although I know we took more time than is typical. Truly a first-class visit.
