Jarey Wang, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist who practices at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Health at Bel Air Medical Center. He treats a wide range of cancers, including those of the lung, prostate, brain, head and neck, gynecologic system and gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, Dr. Wang is experienced at using multiple radiation therapy modalities, such as Cyberknife®, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and radioligand therapy. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts, he aims to optimize and personalize treatments for every patient.

Dr. Wang approaches cancer care by both focusing on each patient’s goals and providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based options. He also has an extensive background in cancer research, which gives him a broad perspective, from the patient experience during therapy to the science that informs clinical decisions. One area of particular interest and expertise for Dr. Wang is using radiation to target metastatic cancer that has spread to only a few areas of the body. He has published on how genetic information and artificial intelligence may help determine who could benefit from targeted radiation. His work has been featured in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, Cancer Discovery, and Cell.

Dr. Wang earned his medical degree and PhD from Baylor College of Medicine and completed residency training at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was chief resident. He is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American College of Radiology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

For me, one of the most important parts of being a cancer doctor is making sure each person feels heard. By taking the time to understand their goals and concerns, I can partner with them to identify the options that best fit their specific situation and care goals. I love getting to know my patients and their support systems, and I consider it a privilege to guide them through this part of their cancer journey.
