Vance Sohn, MD, MBA, FACS, FSSO, is a Nationally renowned surgical oncologist and Director of the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He specializes in treating skin cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, and sarcomas using advanced robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical techniques.
With a career spanning more than 20 years in the U.S. Army, Dr. Sohn has cared for patients in both world-class medical centers and remote combat zones. He also trained military surgeons in trauma and battlefield medicine, experiences that shaped his calm, focused approach to complex care and his deep commitment to serving others.
After his military service, Dr. Sohn served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at a biotechnology company focused on immuno-oncology research. This role gave him a unique perspective on the future of cancer care and strengthened his belief in the power of innovation and clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.
